Clinical Research Centre
PENGENALAN
Clinical Research Center, Hospital Queen Elizabeth II (CRC HQE II) was established in December 2011 as one of the centres under the network of National Clinical Research Centre, Ministry of Health Malaysia. In conjunction with Malaysia day, the health minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Dr S Subramanian visited and officiated CRC HQE II on 16 September 2017. CRC was formed with the aim of enhancing clinical research activities in hospitals by creating atmosphere as well as providing facilities to support research activities at the Ministry of Health facility.

CRC HQE II accepts staff of various background. The team consists of medical officers, pharmacist, research nurse, research officers, CRM study coordinators and administrative assistant. CRC HQE II undertakes clinical research (ISR & IIR), provides research-related administrative services and conduct training courses annually.

To improve patient’s outcome through quality and ethical clinical research conducted by trained and skilled healthcare workers in research.

• Assist client with their research.
• Publish and present research results within a year of research completion.
• Coordinate Industry Sponsored Research (ISR) in Ministry of Health Facilities.
FUNGSI UTAMA
ROLE AS A NETWORK CRC
- To be a centre of information research referral in Hospital Queen Elizabeth II.
- To promote and support Clinical Registry / Database in Malaysia.
- To provide research consultancy services such as research proposal and medical statistics.
- To be the local NMRR secretariat and ensure registration of clinical research in the National Medical Research Register (NMRR).
- To provide internet services and international fax for usage in Clinical Trial and Registry / Database.
- To receive and arrange visitors from Pharmaceutical Company, research sponsor and Contract Research Organisation (CRO)
- To provide site management services for research project).
- To provide staff as Clinical Research Coordinator in Clinical Trial.
- To assist initiate Clinical Trial Research
SERVICES PROVIDED BY CRC
1. To promote research through capacity building in the following ways:- Conduct courses such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good research Practice (GRP), research methodology, biostatistics and scientific writing.
- Conduct regular in house Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Run research consultation clinics (RCC) – provide consultation on research methodology, study design, protocol and statistical analysis.
- Have mentoring programme for clinicians and other medical professionals interested in research.
3. To assist in the registration of research protocol to National Medical Research Register (NMRR) and application of grants for research.
4. To support and facilitate research activities in the hospital through the provision of:
- Database of clinicians interested in research – by interest areas, track record on Industry Sponsored Research (ISR) for Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) and publications.
- Administrative support such as providing research assistants and study coordinators.
- Facility supports such as IT, statistical software, and others, and work station.
5. Research Consultation Clinic (RCC)
- The RCC is conducted on every Monday (8.00 am to 5.00 pm) or upon appointment at the CRC consultation room, Hospital Queen Elizabeth II.
