BEAUFORT, 21 September – The World Physiotherapy Day 2025 celebration in Beaufort District, Sabah, was successfully held with the theme “Healthy Ageing: Falls and Frailty.” The event aimed to raise awareness on the vital role of physiotherapy in preventing falls and promoting lifelong wellness.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Jaludin Haji Kadir, Special Officer representing YB Datuk Hajah Siti Aminah Haji Aching, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RISDA Semaian & Landskap Sdn. Bhd. and Member of Parliament for P.177 Beaufort.

The event began as early as 6.00 a.m. with a warm-up and stretching session, followed by the flag-off for the 10KM Competitive Run and 5KM Fun Run, officiated by Dr. Jason Jimmy Lee Pillay, the event’s main sponsor. The 10KM run featured four categories — Men Open, Men Veteran, Women Open, and Women Veteran.
Over 500 participants took part, including members of the local community, government agencies, NGOs, volunteers, and representatives from Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak.
The celebration also featured:
· A cultural dance performance by the local Beaufort group, Kumpulan Kg. Luagan
· “Walk of Strength” performance by patients from Physiotherapy Unit, Hospital Beaufort
· Health talks and free health screenings
· Blood donation drive
· Exhibition booths by agencies and NGOs
· Community vendor stalls
